Gideon Amos MP is supporting a campaign for action at a Taunton railway crossing where a local teenager tragically lost his life.
Harry Basham, 17, died at the ‘5/13’ pedestrian crossing, located about a mile east of Taunton Station, on October 24th.
A petition has now been launched for either safety improvements or the complete closure of the crossing. It has so far been signed by more than 2,800 people.

Mr Amos said: “My deepest sympathies are with Harry’s family and friends.
“I’ve written to Network Rail requesting closure of this little-used foot crossing and will be meeting with their Route Managing Director in the New Year to try and move things forward to the next stage.
“I fully recognise that alternative routes need to be agreed and in place before a closure can go ahead so, in the meantime, I am pressing for safety measures at the crossing to be improved.”
