In the constituency, we face two issues when it comes to getting connected; those abandoned by the failed Airband contract, and households that were not part of it.

Whilst it is positive that a new contract has been agreed with BT Openreach, the timelines are not clear and I will provide updates as soon as I know more, and will continue to push for the rollout.

Again, I met with the Minister for Telecoms, who confirmed that the Government had signed a contract with BT Openreach covering up to 37,000 premises across Somerset and Devon. I was not given a clear timeline for connection so will continue to push for answers.
I met with the Minister and Andrew Field, Programme Director for Project Gigabit. We discussed the issues faced in the area. The Minister and the Programme Director agreed to address the lack of gigabit-capable connections and promised that a contract with BT Openreach covering our area would be coming.
I raised the issue of the issues with 'Connecting Devon and Somerset' in Parliament and received assurance that I would have a chance to discuss this with the Minister for Telecoms.
